No decoder available for type 'video/x-msmpeg, msmpegversion=(int)42,

I am using QtMultimedia class in QML:
http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qml-qtmultimedia-video.html

When I run the first example program shown in the above link, I get the following error:

Quote:
Warning: "No decoder available for type 'video/x-msmpeg, msmpegversion=(int)42, framerate=(fraction)25/1, width=(int)1280, height=(int)720'."
Warning: "No decoder available for type 'audio/x-adpcm, layout=(string)microsoft, rate=(int)44100, channels=(int)2, block_align=(int)1024, codec_data=(buffer)f403070000010000000200ff00000000c0004000f0000000cc0130ff880118ff'."
Error: "Your GStreamer installation is missing a plug-in."
This is happening on Ubuntu 14.04.2.

I looked in at this blog: http://thebugfreeblog.blogspot.in/20...untu-1404.html

The error message is somewhat different there.

What information am I supposed to give here to help you to help me?

have you installed gstreamer & all its plugins? the good, the bad and the ugly?

fwiw,
i don't think it's qt related (i wouldn't be able to help in that case).
i never heard/seen any "msmpeg", but it seems to be some sort of microsoft format.
maybe you should check if gstreamer supports all sorts of microsoft formats.
but really, if all those gstreamer plugins don't provide the functionality, i don't see what else you could do.
