I cannot get any audio from the line-in on my Audigy sound card. The controls that I have availiable are Line, Line2 and Line2 Capture. Attempting to set any of these to the capture source in alsamixer by pressing space has no effect. Playback and mic in all work fine, but I am having problems getting cd audio from the card as well (this may be related, I don't know)

Using Alsa Drivers, Libs and Utils 1.0.3
Using Kernel 2.6.4

Any advice would be appreciated.

hello i have a RH9 machine with vt8233 ac97 audio controller from via,the driver provided with redhad does not work properly so i got the driver that work from alsa's web,compiled ,installed,configured modules.conf appropriately ,now sound was working fine ,music -xmms-mp3's.Just a week later ,an evening ,when i booted ,there was no sound ,when i tried amixer i got:
amixer:mixer attach default error:no such device
the same with alsamixer,

sndconfig detects the sound card correctly but still no sound is played
kcontrol sound section says alsa driver is installed,but there is no sound card,just that morning i was playing arround with arts builder ,could this have messed something up.

I have the same problem. (Haven't tried cd audio)
