Newbie at installing Amarok and other programs

I just installed Fedora Core 5 for the first time and I am very lost. I installed Amarok with yum through the graphical interface provided with Fedora. I found the application afterwards but when I try to run it the splash screen pops and disappears and nothing else happens. How can I find out what's going on and how can I fix it?

Also, when I get that working I'd like to be able to play mp3's with Amarok. Could someone possibly explain how I would go about doing that?

Start a terminal emulator e.g. Konsole or gnome-terminal and then enter the command "amarok" (without quotes). Post any error messages you get. As for mp3 playing capabilities, go to livna.org and follow the instructions for installing the livna release rpm and gpg key. Afterwards do in a terminal, switch to root using the "su -" command and then do "yum install amarok-extras-nonfree".

Were you ever sorted??

I have the same error, I tried editing the /etc/ld.so.conf by inputting the /usr/local/qt line but it still replies with the same error. I think there is a conflict in my qt libs but how do i know where they are and how to rectify the error.

#ldd 'which amarokapp' | grep qt dpes not retrieve anything.

Please help need to listen my music on Amarok. I used FC5 by the way.
