new XviD <=> new MPlayer?

I built MPlayer 1.0pre5 with XviD 1.0.1 support. Now I want to use it with Xvid 1.0.2. Do I need to uninstall MPlayer and recompile it after I've uninstalled XviD 1.0.1 and installed XviD 1.0.2?

Also, how do I uninstall XviD 1.0.1? It doesn't seem to have a "make uninstall" option!

I searched around but couldn't find an answer.

Is there any particular reason you need Xvid instead of libavcodec/ffmpeg for Xvid support? libavcodec does a good job for me and I have never had any problems playing back xvid movies with it.

At any rate, the libs should reside in /usr/local/lib or wherever you configured them to be when running the configure script.

I use XviD to encode.

Secondly, do I just remove the library files and that's it? That uninstalls XviD?

Lastly, do I have to recompile MPlayer considering the actual library file names don't change, but the libraries themselves have changed? In other words, does MPlayer just use the library files, or does it have some part of XviD 1.0.1 incorporated into it now?
