if you want anti-spam, you can try spamassassin with kmail.

no. it's not really "easy" but someone here has written directions on how it's done.

Install it the same way as you do for mozilla. Create a symbolic link in /usr/local/phoenix/plugins/ pointing to /lib/jre/plugins/ns600/libjava-somethingorother

Sorry can't be much more help at the moment but not in linux right now
