NeverWinter Nights Linux Release!

Hello! WOOHOO!!!
The long awaited (~8 months) NeverWinter Nights beta (actually already at beta 2) release is out for linux. Anyone who has been anticipating this is probably already playing it on Linux, however I'm a bit slow and haven't seen an announcement on here since it's release 2 or 3 days ago. I am now ordering up my Collector's Edition and will give some details on any snags I have from the install (if any).

Here's a link to the forum thread at bioware's website about this:
http://nwn.bioware.com/forums/viewto...03065&forum=72

And a link to the place to download the linux client (primary mirror of course):
http://nwn.bioware.com/downloads/linuxclient.html

Cool

I would hope they release a purchaseable Linux version, instead of the "copy over from Windows" stuff.

Is there any Linux program that can open InstallShield cab files? If not, then why not? hehe

there's a linux installer which lets you install without copying
over files from a windows installation.

get it here: http://icculus.org/~ravage/nwn/

i ran into a problem though when trying to install; and i was
hoping someone could help me with it. here it is:

./nwn_129_linux_installer.run
Verifying archive integrity... All good.

Did you export SETUP_CDROM before
installing?

The program returned an error code (3)

any help would be greatly appreciated. i will browse through the
nwn threads on the bioware forums to see if i can find something
there.

I was pretty psyched about this also, until I spent most of sunday trying to get this thing to work

The installer works pretty good I must say (Tried both that, and the instructions from the Bioware site, since I have a Windows copy).

Problem is running the game, I just get a black screen, a few clicks and then nothing...back to terminal, no errors, NOTHING.

I browsed the bioware forums and it seems a lot of people get this problem for many different reasons.

*sigh*

I guess I'll have to wait for the next release.

Ok, so I don't want anyone's CD Key...

I just want to know where the hell I can find mine!

I feel really dumb not knowing...

I've got the Collector's Edition if that's any different.

Thanks

Ok, thanks to someone on IRC (I found an FAQ somewhere that pointed me towards an IRC channel to find help on NWN linux client) I feel really stupid.

It's inside the manual. Mine was actually on the back page, I guess most of the time it's on the inside of the front cover.

good you found it :) though movies are not supported yet,
(so if you use ravages' installer, do not select the movies),
the game runs very well and sound is great too! thank you
bioware for making this possible and ravage for simplifying
the installation procedure for us all.

I didn't get it quite installed last night, I got it to flicker my screen though, but then just returns to a prompt, no errors in the output screen; however I'll start a new thread on this I guess...
