I have an IBM laptop running Red Hat 9 with Nessus 2.0. I am trying to install updated plugins and am unable to. I have no Internet access but do have the TAR package with the new plugins. I have tried to extract them to the 'plugins' folder and also tried by adjusting the nessus-update-plugins script to point to where the TAR package was. That partially worked but at the end it says 'something went wrong when installing the plugins, uncompression of plugins archive failed.' Does anyone have an idea of how I can do this without being online? Thanks.

How exactly is the plugin tar archive packaged? Where did you get it? I believe the easiest way of doing what you are trying to do is running nessus-update-plugins on a networked machine, creating a tar archive of the plugins directory there, and extracting it under the plugins directory in your notebook.

Also, please run tar tvf nessus-archive.tar (or add gzip/bzip2 parameters if necessary) and post the archive contents here -- maybe this has something to do with the directory layout inside the tar archive.
