I have being trying to get uucp working for weeks now and having been
struggling to do so. I have it set up on a virtual PC with Redhat Linux 9. A
colleague at work also has a similar set up only difference is that he has a
laptop instead of a desktop PC and his works. He has even given me his
virtual PC config files and it still does not work for me.

The details of the problem are as follows : the modem dials the remote site,
answers and connects, the login and password is accepted but then the
connection is dropped. I then discovered a script which outputted in detail
the Debug file using the uucico command. After the login is accepted, the my
system requests packets from the remote, some of these packets are received
but not all are, when the call is complete it reports DEBUG call failed: 5
( I am doing this from memory so please forgive me for the slight syntax
errors ).

I have tried 2 different modems 1 is an internal modem and the other is a
external model. My gut feeling on this is the packet communication but I do
not know how to correct it, I have tried certain settings on the modems as
well but to no joy.
