need help with grub!!!

yesterday i been install for the first time linux with GrUB boot loader...it s Fedora Core 4 and when i installed a new kernel and try to boot that new installed kernel i get message :

VFS: canot open root device "LABEL=/" or unknown-block(0,0)
please append a correct "root=" boot option
kernel panic -not syncing: VFS unable to mount on unknown- block(0,0)

and my GrUB config. ffile is :

# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hda1
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/hda
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title Fedora Core (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4 ro root=LABEL=/
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img
title new kernel
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/bzImageNew ro root=LABEL=/
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.img

where bzImageNew is new kernel image, and i have those partitions on my hard drive:

/dev/hda1 mounted on /
/swap
/dev/hda2 mounted on /home
/dev/hda5 mounted on /data

help!

thanks in advance!

Are you using reiserfs as file system?

I have experienced such troubles... Try ext2 or ext3
