need help configuring sendmail

Hi,
I am trying to configure sendmail on my Suse9.1
Until now I could not find some clear intructions as of how to do this.
A link to a good how to will be great.

My Problem:
I type: (note the ~/ # is a bash prompt)
Code:
~/ # sendmail blablabla@gmx.net
test
.
Then I get a returned mail notice in my mailbox saying:
Code:

Date: Fri, 29 Oct 2004 14:20:43 +0200

To: <root@scenic.ronsdomain>
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/report; report-type=delivery-status;
        boundary="i9TCKhXd007959.1099052443/scenic.ronsdomain"

... while talking to mx0.gmx.net.:
>>> MAIL From:<root@scenic.ronsdomain>
<<< 550 5.1.8 {mx033} Cannot resolve your domain
554 5.0.0 Service unavailable

Part 2:
Content-Type: message/delivery-status

Reporting-MTA: dns; scenic.ronsdomain
Received-From-MTA: DNS; localhost
Arrival-Date: Fri, 29 Oct 2004 14:20:42 +0200

Final-Recipient: RFC822; blablabla@gmx.net
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.8
to me, it seems sendmail uses the host name specified by my /etc/hosts - how can I change this (since this host name is only for our LAN) ?
Cheers,
Ron
