Question Ndiswrapper 1.16 compiling issue

Hey guys, I'm a newby, just installed Debian Sarge on my desktop. I'm trying to get my wireless card to work, but Ndiswrapper does not want to install. I got the .tar.gz file, "tarred" it into the directory, but everytime i type make, it gives me:

make -C driver
make[1]: Entering directory '/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver'
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.8-2-686/build SUBDIRS=/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver \
DRIVER_VERSION 1.16
make[2]: Entering directory '/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.8-2-686'
CC [M] /ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/hal.o
In file included from /ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/ntoskernel.h:334,
from /ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/hal.c:24:
/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/winnt_types.h:125:2: #error "gcc 3.4 or newer should be
used for compiling this module"
In file included from /ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/hal.c:24:
/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/ntoskernel.h:698: error: syntax error before "LONG"
/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/ntoskernel.h:699: error: syntax error before "LONG"
/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/ntoskernel.h:700: error: syntax error before "struct"
etc.
etc.
etc.
(all syntax errors)
make[3]: *** [/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver/hal.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [_module_/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver] Error 2
make[2]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.8-2-686'
make[1]: *** [default] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory '/ndiswrapper-1.16/driver'
make: *** [all] Error 2

It says to install gcc 3.4 or higher. So I did. And I got the exact same thing. What am I doing wrong? Please be detailed if you could, give me commands because I don't really know too many. Thanks for your help.
