Nautilus and remote server user/group IDs

Hi,

when I use Nautilus to connect to a remote server, user and group IDs are in number form. Is there a way Nautilus can be set up to use the remote server user database (or whatever) to translate the number IDs into plain language IDs for that remote server (like e.g. FileZilla), or do I just have to live with the number IDs (or use another client)?

It may be more than that. if one of the UID/GID's matches one on your system, you will see the name from your system and not what is on the remote system

This is what happens with NFS! And is why systems using NFS should match up reasonably well passwd/group file wise (or via a shared nsswitch configuration (See /etc/nswitch.conf)

However NFS (or whatever you are using for remote mounts) does have a UID/GID mapping tool to do the translation between remote UIDs and local UIDs. See mount options.
