Question mysql.sock whereis?

Hi!
I've a little problem now with MySQL.
I don't have the RedHat 7.0; so, i did download mysql-max-3.23.49-pc-linux-gnu-i686-tar.gz, i've follow all
the steps that indicates the INSTALLATION-BINARY, but when i'm trying to do (from /usr/local/mysql) bin/mysqladmin
-u root -p, the next message follows
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through
socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)
So, i did
find / -name mysql.sock
And nothing!!. this file isn't anywhere!!!!
Wh at is happened???. When i'm follow the steps, no error message is present!!!.
What can i do??
Thank's
Ricardo

Most likely it is in /var/lib/mysql
so link it to the /tmp directory like this:

ln -s /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp

then restart mysql.

hope that works.

I'm terrible sorry if i persisting requiring your help.
I've found these problems and i don't know how to resolve them:

1.- I've found the file .err in /usr/local/mysql/data and indicates these:
Fatal error: Can't change to run as user 'mysql'

But these user exists!!! I created in /home; and the directory /var/lib/mysql exists!!!.
As it's group also exists!!.

2.-The file mysql.sock can't find it anywhere, so i made this (in /var./lib/mysql)
touch mysql.sock
then
ln -s /var/lib/mysql /tmp/mysql.sock
(is it fine?)

3.- When i do
/usr/local/mysql/bin/./mysqld
Indicates:
Can't change to /usr/local/mysql/var
Aborting

What can i do?

Thank's
