mysql installation directory

I have installed Mysql version 4 using the rpm package on red hat 9.0

I want to know the installation directory that mysql gets installed in by default. I want to find the location of the file mysql.h and the "include" subdirectory under the installation directory.

Please help.

Did you install the mysql-devel rpm? mysql.h isn't included in the mysql server or client rpm.

on RH9.0, once the mysql-devel RPM is installed, you *should* be able to find the file in question at /usr/include/mysql/mysql.h or /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES/mysql-xx.xx.xx/include/mysql.h (substitute your installed version of MySQL for xx.xx.xx).
