mysql

Hello all!

I recently got mysql running on my box for my sites.

But it seems to be listening a remote port I dont know why.

How can I set the daemon strictly local?

Thanks alot!

You can launch mysqld with the --skip-networking switch, effectively stopping TCP/IP access to the database and only allowing local UNIX sockets.

I believe many applications - such as PHP MySQL access - use local TCP/IP networking, meaning that if you turn off listening to TCP ports these applications will fail.
