I have had a software raid running on OpenSuse / SUSE 10 & 11 for some time and I have about 8TB on it. I always run close to 100% and once in a while get there but always manage to delete a bunch and clear out about 30-100GB.
For some reason recently (last several months) I get:

Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/md0 7813819904 7783541772 30278132 100% /space

but even though it shows 30GB

# cd /space

# touch foo

touch: cannot touch `FOO': No space left on device

I did an xfs_repair on it and I did a "df -i"

# xfs_repair /dev/md0

Phase 1 - find and verify superblock...
Phase 2 - using internal log
- zero log...
- scan filesystem freespace and inode maps...
- found root inode chunk
Phase 3 - for each AG...
- scan and clear agi unlinked lists...
- process known inodes and perform inode discovery...
- agno = 0

- agno = 3
- agno = 4
- agno = 5
- agno = 6
- agno = 7
- agno = 8
- agno = 9
- agno = 10

- agno = 12

It's not that I have space! It's like I am running out of inodes even though
the df -i is supposed to show that. I removed about 1000 files or maybe even
more that I didn't need and it works. The test I used was I did a:

# touch foo - File was created
# touch foo1 - got "File System Full"

deleted any file and was able to create "one" file so I
am guessing it was something to do with the inode table
and now that I have removed about 1000+ files it will
take a long time to get back to that plus I am changing
it.
