Unfortunately, Wine does not work well on Slackware 11 due to it's unusual kernel configuration: a 2.4 kernel and a 2.6 kernel available, with glibc compiled against both. This tends to confuse Wine a bit and make it difficult to get installed/started.

At the very least you must install and run the 2.6 kernel from the /testing directory of the Slackware CDs. But honestly, you are much better off installing Slackware 12 at this point; as it has made huge improvements over Slackware 11, among them the abandonment of the 2.4 kernel series and the problems it was causing.

No, Wine only works with a 2.6 kernel, it has dropped support for anything older than that.

You will either need to get a new network card (or see if there is an updated driver yet) or not use Wine, basically.
