My computer & Gnome


ok im not a complete newbie but i do have a bit of a newbie question, i need to know how to make my mounted hard drives appear in My Computer on the Gnome 2.8 Desktop

Well you won't be able to access them through the desktop icon. Make a new one and put in this as the launch command:
nautilus --no-desktop --browser

i dont think i was clear enough........right now when i click on my computer icon i see my CD-roms Network and Filesystem...but i want it to show my other 2 physical drives hdb1 and hdf1 similar to the windows xp my computer icon

make entries for them in /etc/fstab
if you don't want them mounted at boot, make sure you enter "noauto" (no quotes) as an entry.

they are in my fstab

/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1 vfat defaults 0 0
/dev/hdf1 /mnt/hdf1 ext2 defaults 0 0
/dev/hdd /media/cdrecorder auto pamconsole,ro,exec,noauto,managed 0 0

perhaps this will help this is my fstab
