I use Xine as the multimedia player on my fc6. However I met a problem of running multiple instances of Xine: when I clicked a video file in nautilus file browser, a Xine window popped up, if I clicked another video file, another Xine instance was launched, but this second Xine always had some problem with the video: the video was distorted, the sound became weird. So I am wondering how to prevent Xine from running multiple times. Are there any solutions? Thanks a lot!
I've also noticed that I cannot have more than one copy of xine or mplayer running at the same time, but I just make sure I've closed all previous instances of video players before opening a new one. Do you want to run more than one video window, or do you just want it not to launch xine when you single click on a video file? I found single click action to be kind of annoying and had to switch settings back to the classic double click to open a file.
What I want exactly is to only allow ONE instance of Xine running all the time. So, if a Xine is running when I click another video file, the existing Xine will be used to play the video file instead of launching another Xine to play it, which will cause problems. Is there a way to achieve this?
