Multiple Booting

I am running a system with 2 hard drives. I have Windows XP Pro on Hard Drive 1 and Linux on Hard Drive 2.

I have already installed Mandrake on HD2 and I am using the LILO boot option to select which system I want, all works fine.

I now want to install Red Hat 9 onto the HD2 and get that added to the Lilo Boot Loader. When I boot from the floppy and try to install Red Hat 9 onto the area on HD2 I have allocated, it offers me the boot loader menu. I select LILO rather than GRUB and I can not find either the Windows Installation or the Mandrake to add to the Boot loader.

Would someone be kind enough to explain the best way of doing this. I am a relative Newbie, I already had Mandrake and someone bought me Red Hat for Xmas. I am keen to try it.

Many Thanks

Alan

Boot back into your Mandrake distro and edit the lilo.conf file to include the booting parameters of RH9. Then re-run lilo and reboot and you should see all three choices.

This topic has been covered like crazy in the last week or so, try searching for "Dual Booting" and "Multi Booting".

Remember also - you'll first have to mount the Red Hat partition which contains the Red Hat kernel to a mount point in Mandrake before you add an entry for Red HAt to Mandrake's lilo.conf - ( LILO requires that all kernels are locally mounted before creating an updated map file )
