Mplayer with menus

Hello,
I'm running Mplayer on Debian. I'd like to be able to play my favorite movie (which I own) from the hard drive with menu support. Many people have told me how to play the individual vobs but what I'd like to be able to do is play the VIDEO_TS.IFO file so that the backup plays just like a DVD. I can already do this in Windows using PowerDVD but I'd like to use Linux. Any ideas on how to do this using mplayer (or any other player for that matter)?
Thanks,
Todd

Thanks but...

That article doesn't refer to my problem. I can play DVDs fine....I want to be able to play a backup (of a movie I own) from the hard drive while still being able to use the authored menus.

Did you try just opening the ifo file with mplayer? Do you get any errors? If so, what are they? Have you tried any other programs such as ogle or xine? I don't quite understand what you are getting at because playing a dvd (that you own) on the hd should be just like playing one off the disc.
