Mplayer / Kmplayer, how do I prevent multpile instances?

Hi All.

I'm running SuSE 9.3 and my preferred video player is Kmplayer.

Q. How can I stop a new instance of the player opening when launching a file from Konqueror, when the player is already open?

Also as an addition query, can anyone tell me how I can edit context menus?

Any help much appreciated..

Vin.
