Mounting Samba shares under Linux

Hey.

I need to mount a Samba Share on my RedHat 7.2, so i installed Samba-common, and Samba-Client.

To mount the share i type :

smbmount //serveur_dev/fax /mnt/fax/ -o username=fax,password=toto,rw

Then i get the following error, repeated 3 times :

tdb((null)): tdb_open_ex: could not open file /var/cache/samba/unexpected.tdb: No such file or directory

Any idea of the reason why it tells me this?? And how to fix it?

Xarli

Ok, i answer myself. I "touch"ed the file to create it, and averything went fine, i could mount my share.

Now i have another question, i can read, but i can't write on my share.

My smb.conf :

[root@serveur-dev /pdf]# vi /etc/samba/smb.conf
path = /var/www/miniserv
read only = no

#======================= Global Settings =====================================
[global]
netbios name = serveur_dev
workgroup = MonGroupe
server string = Serveur de developpement
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
max log size = 0
security = user
encrypt passwords = yes
smb passwd file = /etc/samba/smbpasswd
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
wins server = 10.1.1.1
dns proxy = no

#============================ Share Definitions ==============================
#[homes]
# comment = Home Directories
# browseable = no
# writable = yes

[fax]
path = /pdf
read only = no
writable=yes
locking = no
comment = Repertoire de reception des fax
write list = fax
force user = fax

And you have my smbmount command syntax in the first post.

any idea?

I am encountering the same problem you have on the first post xarli. What so you mean by "touch"ed the file? I do not know how to create the file in the first place.
