Monit installation issue on Ubuntu 12.4

Having trouble installing monit on ubuntu 12.4.

The configuration went well, however when I try to run make command received following error.
/usr/local/ssl/lib/libcrypto.a(dso_dlfcn.o): In function 'dlfcn_globallookup':
undefined reference to 'dlopen'
undefined reference to 'dlsym'
undefined reference to 'dlclose'

Please help.

Welcome to LQ.

Ubuntu 12.04 :

1) Delete the alien ssl in /usr/local/
2) sudo apt-get install libssl-dev

3) cd monit-5.5/ ... and please read "./configure --help".

4) 32bits : ./configure --with-ssl-lib-dir=/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/
... Or for a 64bits OS: ./configure --with-ssl-lib-dir=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/

5) make : No errors.
