So I've decided to go the textual route for playing my music. But I'm not sure whether to use cmus or moc and would like to poll people's thoughts and experience with the two.
While I was browsing the web, somewhere someone said that cmus has a library. My interpretation is that it has a library to store music, which is not something I need since I have a pretty good hierarchy and all tags that I find important (artist, album, track number, song title, year) are filled out.
Anyway, I thought it was quite strange that cmus would have a library feature or something since it's aimed to be lightweight. But then I read this:
Quote:
I use cmus regularly, and when I start it, it spends some time looking through my music folder while adding things to the list. I can hear the hard drive is really working hard. Is it possible to make cmus keep a database of all the music so that it doesn't have to look through my hard drive every time it starts?

So now I'm thinking that what I originally thought was correct and cmus doesn't keep track of my music. However, it does raise another concern. It made me wonder if it tries to preload too many tracks once it opens or something, which would only be bad with a large playlist. Or was this just caused by cmus reading a directory?
