"Mirage" picture viewer — blurry screenshots
Hi LQ.org! Recently I discovered a nice simple image viewer for myself — "Mirage". The program is very good except for one thing: for some reason it displays screenshots blurry. Is this a feature and can it be disabled? And also, if this smoothing effect is applied to screenshot pictures, does it mean it is applied to all pictures you open with this viewer? 'Cause if so, it looks like the quality of all pictures in this viewer is decreased compared to other programs that view pictures...

Not sure why you're using this application since it has not been updated after February 13, 2011. Version 0.9.5.2 is the latest version... Better to ditch this application and start usingan image viewer which is still maintained.

Do you have any suggestion that is similar to Mirage? I was looking for something like IrfanView for Windows. Just a simple viewer, no bloated functionality.
P. S. Why do you think if it's 4 years old, it has to be abandoned? The program works fine.

Why abandon it? Linux evolves, grows and changes. Libraries and other system-related packages get bugfixes, patches or newer releases. Any application which is not maintained or doesn't get any bugfix, patch or update turns into an old relic. It could turn into a security risk due to buggy programming, also it will try to find libraries or files which aren't available any longer or are renamed due to a higher version number. Old applications could have an effect on your system stability. Some options might not work, which you have noticed, due to missing/renamed libraries and/or packages.
Here you can find alternatives for Irfranview (which is imho one of the best Windows imageviewers):

imho, irfanview is really more than "just" an image viewer...
but i guess you want something with focus on functionality, not bloat & eyecandy.
fair enough.
there's plenty of image viewers, starting from ultra-minimal and almost no gui (sxiv, feh, and many others), to pretty full-featured, but still manageable (geeqie)... whatever rocks your boat.
