mgetty is a getty for use with modems (I looked it up since I had never seen it before.)

Frank;
I pulled this into its own thread---you had posted it in an 8-year-old thread, much of which is maybe no longer relevant.

mgetty does not seem to be available on my system. I suggest looking at the project website and seeing if it is still supported.

I found one possible solution in the Ubuntu depositories called OpenAm for Open Answering Machine.
If it works I will make a new post.
Thanks!
