Matlab 6.5 GlibC

Hello, I am trying to run matlab 6.5 on SUSE 10.1, however, when trying to launch the license manager (./lmstart) I get the following error msg:

have tried export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 to no avil....glibc libraries are installed and functional....

Have searched the net for tips on this, but all I found was to try the LD_ASSUME_KERNEL command :/

I know this is not the answer to your question, so don't get offended [just don't read it if you don't feel like].

Why on the Earth would a Linux user buy [I've noticed the word "licence", so I assume you paid for it] software, when there is a free equivalent to it. A couple of days ago I compiled octave-2.1.73 (+ gnuplot-4.0.0) from source, and all it costed me was some time to download the source tarballs and to compile the binaries.

How about because the so called "equivalent" is actually by no means equivalent, but grossly inferior?

Octave may have some of the functionality of MATLAB,but it certainly doesn't do everything MATLAB does, and in my experience has a tendancy to be rather unreliable.
