Madrake Really Slow On A P4, 3.0ghz


Is this a common problem? When doin more than 1 task the mouse is really jumpy. Ive got a p4 3.0ghz comp with 512mb ram.

do you have ide drives with dma enabled? ( in a console type (as root) "hdparm -d /dev/hda" )

it could also b the video driver no?
but true, do check ur dma then check if it is the video card driver.

top

Open a terminal, and type the command, top and see if it gives any process that is using a lot of CPU time. Sometimes when things are slow, top shows something, and sometimes it doesn't, sigh.
