it seems i can log onto yahoo but can't check my inbox. any ideas why? keep in mind I am an _absolute_ beginner with lynx... thanks so much for the help.
PS. using ubuntu 5.10 on laptop with dial up connection.
Distribution: Debian Sid(it's broken, I'm doing a clean install of Sarge soon)

It could be related to cookies. Are cookies from yahoo allowed to be saved? If cookies aren't the problem, it might have to do with the yahoo security. More specifically, how lynx handles the security.
What exactly happens when you login then proceed to your inbox? Do you get an error? Does it time-out?
I checked the lynx's cookie options. i thinks it is like tools>options>cookies>accepting policy>always yes. I don't exaclty remember how i checked, as i am running windows now (playing soccer). in the options section, it says all cookies are to be accepted by lynx. so it should not be about cookies.
as for what really happens:
I log in to the yahoo account. I click on "inbox" and it directly goes out of my yahoo account to the account log in. I thought about cookies when this happened but, as i said, cookies are enabled...
May be something about java? in elinks for example, when i try to login it directly goes to a page where it wants me to get java(script?) enabled in internet explorer (...). anyway, in lynx, it just kicks me about of the account once I click inbox...

After Googling, I found this, which basically just explained that Yahoo requires javascript, and lynx doesn't support that functionality. I'm not sure if Yahoo supports mail forwarding, but if they do, you could forward all mail to an account that supports Pop. Then your mail would be accessable via a command line pop mail client such as Mutt, or you could forward it to an account on a mail host that better supports Lynx.
