Lucent 56K V.90 PCI Dfi Modem driver for Red Hat Fedora Linux 2.6.5-1.358
I have a Compaq Presario 1200 with a Lucent 56K V.90 PCI Dfi Modem. Red Hat Fedora Linux 2.6.5-1.358 is installed and I now need a driver for the modem. I tried to install: 'rpm --force ltmodem-kv_2.2.14_5.0-5 ...'
and also a 2.6.8-1 driver, but got an 'error: Failed dependencies'. So bleeding picky, Linux!
Thanks for your help, Philip.

This is the full error message:
"error: Failed dependencies:
kernel = 2.6.8-1.521 is needed by ltmodem-kv_2.6.8_1.521-8.31a8-1.i686.rpm"
It seems the modem driver version must match the version of the kernel. I tried to fool Linux by changing the name of driver file to that of the kernel, but it gave the same error.

hi there
this is the problem, with rpm files they are compiled for a specific environment
what u can do in this case is either get that kernel or get the source of the modem driver u r using

Maybe you wanna try this driver out:
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/pack...-2.56.76.0.tgz
Code:
su -
Password:*******
tar -zxvf intel-536EP-2.56.76.0.tgz
cd new_directory
make clean
make 536
make install
and also read the readme.txt
Hope it helped, Boby!

tar -zxvf intel-536EP-2.56.76.0.tgz
cd new_directory
make clean
make 536
On executing 'make 536' it exited with the message '/boot/vmlinuz-autoconfig.h does not exist'. Is it possible to get a .rpm version of this package?
Thanks
Philip
