localhost VS mydomain.net

Hello,

If I access a servlet like this:
Code:
action="http://localhost:8080/WEB/LetThemKnow" it works fine
but if I access it like this:
Code:
action="http://www.mydomain.net/WEB/LetThemKnow"
I get 404 error message:
Code:
Not Found
The requested URL /WEB/LetThemKnow was not found on this server.
Does anybody have an explanation?

Thanks.

Is it just a typo that you don't have :8080 in the problem URL or do you get the error even when it's there?

Hi,

should it be action="http://www.mydomain.net:8080/WEB/LetThemKnow than?

if I add 8080 and access the servlet I would get a COULD NOT CONNECT TO http://www.mydomain.net server on a machine that is located outside of my network. If I access it directly from the server machine it works fine though.

thanks

I guess this means there is a networking problem, right?

It sounds like it. Can you ping the domain from the other machine (the one outside the network)?

hello,

because I have dynamic ip i could not do it but now i solved the problem with ip and i can access the site from outside.

There is another explanation of the problem: I have some dynamic behavior in jsp pages such as invoke some jstl tags on click and stuff like that. As soon as action is triggered the site hangs but on initial load it is fine.

So the problem is that I cannot invoke any action.

thanks
