Is there any reference for all the packages in slackware 14.2? I did a full install packages but now I want to remove all the packages that I'm not using.
I need a list of packages per category like how the DE categorized them. So from that I can make a script to remove all unwanted packages.
Be vary careful removing things, especially libraries: I once tried to customise a Slackware installation and found all sorts of things had unexpected dependencies — who would guess that they needed aalib (askii art)?
There is too much bloatware that I don't need and much pain in the ass if I reinstalled new slack again.
try void linux, it does not install much of anything, just enough to get you by on, and you have to install everything else that you might want. it is fast and solid, it has been for me anyways. it is a rolling release so it is always updated.
I just got done updating it, and the Kernel is..
Code:
Found Windows 10 on /dev/sda1
Found Slackware 14.2 on /dev/sda5
done
linux4.14-4.14.11_2: updated successfully.
linux4.14-headers-4.14.11_2: configuring ...

The solution might be Salix. That's 100% compatible with Slackware, but
1. you can do a basic installation: Linux, Gnu tools, Salix's configuration utilities, GUI, and a browser.
2. you get dependency resolution, so it's easy to add what you need.
3. it uses the Slackware repository and its own, and you can even use Slackbuilds.
