halo.. i am new to linux and currently searching to use Linux OS 2.2.X kernel. Can anyone give me some suggestions about the type of linux OS got kernel 2.2.X ?
Certian versions of udev requires at least 2.6.17 or so. You might consider looking into that stuff, just so you don't compile your kernel and get a crazy problem.
I am facing a problem of mobile mesh software installation problem which the kernel version(2.2.X) is not compatible with the fedora core 4, 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4.
I had posted the problem on the link below: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=462328
If you have any ideas or suggestions about the problem, please leave your message there. Thanks
i have no more choices because i have to use a mobile mesh software only can support kernel 2.2.X.
Currently i am searching the linux OS from internet to completely download it. But I am not sure which OS is good. Can anyone suggests some linux OS that is good to use ??
hmm
You are going to use it for an embedded device?
I would recommend something like Gentoo, Slackware, LFS, Arch, Rock... most of the "harder" distros would probably be better only becasue they give you a lot more choice for exactly what you need. Plus, I think they would be more apt to be able to direct you to some things that would be able to support a 2.2 kernel. I honestly think you're going to have a hard time getting udev of devfs to work with that (at least finding a version that will), but it shouldn't be too hard with how awesome google is.
