Linux on a iBook G3 questions

Heya!

I recently got an iBook G3 and wonder if i gonna install Linux on it.
I tried to install Debian on and older ibook, but never succeeded due to some wicked harddrive configuration.

I am not sure what dist i gonna choose, any suggestions ?

Or shall i stick to MacOs X ?

I've heard that Yellow Dog is one of the better PowerPC distros - I think that's the key, you've got to use a special MAC type distro. Unless you are really sure about what you're doing though, Mac OSX is your safest bet, yes it crashes, no it isn't open source but it is at least a UNIX backend. If you keep your files tidy (Macs don't do this themselves), it should be fine.

P.S. There is a terminal program in OSX that you can use so it can't be all bad!
