lilo windows issue

hi all,
I have 4 hds.

sda U320SCSI -> linux
|
sda1 / (lilo in MBR )
sdb sata -> /home
sdc sata -> /stuff
hdb pata
|
hdb1 -> windows OS partition
hdb2 -> win data partiton

cat /etc/lilo.conf

[snip]

image = /boot/2614b
root = /dev/sda1
label = 2614b
read-only
# Linux bootable partition config ends
other = /dev/hdb1
table=/dev/hdb
label = win

but when i select windows it simply stalls at the lilo screen
As it stands the only way i can boot windows up ( for CSS purpouses.. ) is to switch the cmos boot disk to be he hdb drive...
what else can i do to make lilo boot win??

thanks

Ronan

How about append these line to the end of Windows section in lilo.conf
Code:
map-drive = 0x83
to = 0x80

map-drive = 0x80
to = 0x83
Should do the Bios switching between 1st and the 4th disk for you.

If you don't know if hdb is the 4th disk or not you can

(a) try combinations replacing all 0x83 with 0x82 (and then all 0x82 with 0x81)

(b) Load a Live CD with Grub support, invoke a Grub shell in root by typing
Code:
grub
geometry (hd0)
geometry (hd1)
geometry (hd2)
geometry (hd3)
Method (b) is the definitive disk order Grub gets it directly from the BIOS. By examining the contents of the disks from the geometry statements you should know exactly which disk No. is hdb.

There are some explanation in the 2nd link of my signature (Section A refers)
