All files can be tested with : right click > properties

Or : 'ls -l <file>', to check the owner.
( 'ls -l test' replies :
-rwxr-xr-x 1 knudfl knudfl 93 Apr 20 2010 test* ).

And still : I don't know why you have / are creating files
in your /home/shantanu/, that are not owned by you.

And yes :
All files in /home/shantanu/ns-allinone-2.34 should be owned by shantanu.

.

/home/shantanu/ns-allinone-2.34/ is the perfect location.

But : If you do any "sudo" commands, you will face problems.

( I have never seen similar issues with ns-234-leach.tar.gz ).

Hi knudfl,
i think i might have rectified it.I tried chmod 777 leach_test and it did not show any error and i checked out the leach.err file in the directory leach_sims ,only problem is the error file shows me this
"line 37:ns command not found" and the leach.out is an empty which is pretty obvious i guess.I am trying to figure out what can now be done but if you do have any ideas please let me know.

Thanks
Shanky

# 20. "line 37:ns command not found"

Installing ns , nam :

cd ns-allinone-2.34/ns-2.34/ && sudo make install
cd ../nam-1.14/ && sudo make install

'make install' will copy the binaries 'ns', 'nam' to /usr/local/bin/
.
