ldconfig stat errors on Fedora Core 3 migration

Hello All, I recently migrated from SuSE 9.1 to Fedora Core 3 and am having some trouble with library files and ldconfig. I am upgrading packages such as GTK 2.6 and it appears to be installed fine, everything compiled and new gtk programs are running. The nuissance is in the removal of the old library files, like glib 2.3 replaced by glib 2.6. Under Fedora I removed the orriginal glib by 'rpm -e --nodeps glib2" and a few other library files and the result of my /sbin/./ldconfig output and when the system boots up says it can't "stat" the old files. Here's an example when I try to find the installed glib library files.

Code:
 /sbin/./ldconfig -v | grep "glib"
/opt/glib26/lib:
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgthread-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libpangox-1.0.so: No such file or directory
        libglib-2.0.so.0 -> libglib-2.0.so.0.600.1
/opt/glib12/lib:
        libglib-1.2.so.0 -> libglib.so
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf_xlib-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libpango-1.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgdk-x11-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgobject-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libatk-1.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgmodule-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libpangoxft-1.0.so: No such file or directory
/sbin/./ldconfig: Cannot stat /usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so: No such file or directory
        libgw-glib.so.0 -> libgw-glib.so.0.0.0
        libgwrap-glib.so.1 -> libgwrap-glib.so.1.0.0
        libdbus-glib-1.so.0 -> libdbus-glib-1.so.0.0.0
Someone please tell me it's a simple path or configuration file problem.

did you install your new stuff to a different location? possibly rpm didn't remove everything it installed in the first place.
