launching programs from command line in FS

Hello there, I am new to Linux, and have been experimenting with Gnome and KDE for a little while now.

I have one simple question, for which I havent found an answer while surfing on the forums.

I have created a launcher for an application on the gnome desktop in fedora core 2. This basically implies that I type a command in the command line and run it in the terminal. This works fine. However, I would like the program to switch to full screen. How can I do this ?
Is there a fullscreen option to do this ?

# program set_fullscreen() or something of that order ?

any ideas ?

depends on the program, there may be an option for this but you will have to read each programs' documentation to find out. Start with the man pages:

:~$ man [command-name]

and scour the options for a fullscreen switch (something like: [command-name] --fullscreen=1 ). It may be something you can put into the commands' config file, like for mplayer add the line: fs=1 in ~/.mplayer/config
