I have a Conexant HCF Data/Fax/Voice/skpk (w/Handset) and i want to use the Kppp dialer and it tells me that the modem is ready, then it says initalizing modem... and it just does that untill the time runs out then it starts all over again. Someone please help me...
Thanx, DESCEND
Have you turned PnP OS off in your BIOS? Also, in kppp, under modem, run the query modem. It runs a complete series of tests and will tell you if you are talking to it correctly.
when i press query modem, it does it and the it comes up witht the results ATI: and the ATI 1-7 with blank text areas. I still need help.
Thanx, DESCEND
You are not talkint to the modem then. Every field should be filled in after a sucessful test. Either, as mentione my TigerOC, you need to install the drivers, however, upsing kppp, try each device. /dev/mode/, /dev/ttyS0, /dev/ttyS1, /dev/ttyS2, etc on through the list. It is probably trying /dev/modem and it isn't pointing to the /dev the modem is on.
