Kpilot and SUSE 9.3

Hello I just purchased a Palm TX handheld and I wanted to synchronize it with my laptop that runs SUSE 9.3, I saw that my distro comes with the application called Kpilot so I decided to try and configure it using this program. I plugged my palm TX into the USB port using the hotsync cable provided and then I pressed "auto detect" on Kpilot but unfortunately it doesnt auto detect my device, what can I do to make it work? I checked SUSE's manual and it says that Palm devices connected to the USB cable should be autodetected.

Can anyone provide me with some help?

thanks,

Had you pressed the "hotsync" button on the Palm before trying to autodetect? The handheld is only connected while hotsyncing, and then disconnects again.

If this doen't work, try entering dmesg | grep -i palm to see if Linux can see the handheld. Post up what (if anything) this gives you (during or after a hotsync attempt).

OK. This shows that a USB connection is being established, and that generally it's connecting using the ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB0 ports.

The next thing is to check what port/device is set in the KPilot configuration. Often it's set by default to /dev/pilot, which didn't work when I tried it. Try setting it instead to /dev/ttyUSB1 and ensuring that it's definitely set to connect via USB rather than serial. You could also try altering the speed (I find that 57600 works fine).

Well its been awhile but I reinstalled SUSE 9.3 and have to face the same problem again.

maybe if you tell me step by step how to do this I can finally get it to work.

I typed the USB1 thing but I get this error message:

08:00:34 Next HotSync will be: HotSync. Please press the HotSync button.
08:00:35 Pilot device /dev/ttyUSB1 does not exist. Probably it is a USB device and will appear during a HotSync.

Ireally need for this to work because I use my palm device alot.
