Hello!
I'm now using gaim/pidgin and KDE. I read that kopete integrates better to KDE than gaim. So here is the question: should I, or is it worth to change to kopete or not? In the answer please give some real reasons, not just like this: "because I'm using it, and I'm satisfied with it". Please don't start an argue in this thread. I'm just asking and that's all.
Another question: does it crash so frequently like in previous versions?
Thanks for your answers.
Why not try Kopete and make your own conclusions about which is better for you.
An excellent idea, but the problem is, that Mepis 6.0 provides an old version of everything, including kopete, so I won't get a good picture of the app as it is now. I plan to switch to Ubuntu, where a recent version of kopete can be found. When I will install it, I want to know which one to choose. That is why I asked.
I realise that you stated to keep personal opinions out of this, but it's hard not to....
I first started using gaim, then tried kopete.... I cant remember why, but for some reason i decided it was pretty useless and went back to gaim.
After a while, I installed gaim beta... crash after crash after crash, I decided to give kopete another go - it would not connect to my msn account. Back to gaim i went.
Only in the last few days had I discovered pidgen.... seems to be working well, hasn't crashed on me once or failed to connect.
And dare i say it... nice interface and easy to use. I've even started building my own emo collection. The only downside I can see to it is at the moment personally created emo collections seem to be restricted to png images only, no gif animations or similar allowable - still experimenting with this.
I guess what it comes down to is similar to what was previously posted - install ubuntu (if thats what you're going to be using) and try the two for yourself. If you like kopete, use it.
Personally i have found gaim (now pidgin) to be a much more reliable and useful messenger app.
Oh, one more thing - pidgen seems to integrate with KDE quite adequately to me, so no problems there.
Another vote for either . Have ran both gaim(pidgin) and kopete here both with no problems. Agree with the previous post though and try them and see which one you prefer.
