Question Konqueror tries to drag directory after one click. Is there a fix?

I am using Red Hat 9. My desktop is KDE 3.1.4 and file manager is Konqueror 3.1.4.

I use Konqueror to manage my files using two panels with left pane showing the directory tree and the right showing the contents of the current directory. Frequently, when I single click a directory in the left pane and then move the pointer to the right pane Konqueror acts as if I had clicked and held the button since it tries to drag and drop the selected folder. I end up having to hit escape after selecting a folder in order to cancel the drag on drop.

Is this a bug in Konqueror or is something else set incorrectly?

I'm not sure it matters or not but I am using a Logitech USB scroll mouse.

Thanks!

I just opened Konqueror to look at this, and the very same thing happens to me. There's nothing obvious in the configuration menus (as I'm sure you've already found out). I would guess it's a bug.

Aha, it's been reported.

OK. Thanks for the info.

I am surprised they haven't addressed this by now. It makes the directory tree nearly unusable.

Hmmm, you seem to have a worse case than me. Although, I don't use konqueror as a file manager much.

You could follow the link above and see if you can leave a "me too!" comment. I don't know how KDE apply priority to bugs, but it can't hurt.

There was a place at the bug listing to vote for the bug so I did.

Which distro are you using KDE on? Do you use another File Manager? What CPU are you running?

I'm using a P3-350. I wonder if faster CPU's have less trouble.

I mainly use Slackware, but have RedHat and Mandrake on two other computers that I have access to.

My work machine is a dual-Xeon, 2.8GHz. Probably the speed isn't much of a factor if it's a KDE bug.

I tend to do most of my file management in an xterm. Konqueror can be handy for the previews though.

I'll go back to that link and vote for it too.
