Creative EMU10K1 PCI Audio Driver, version 0.18, 03:29:02 Jun 20 2002
emu10k1: EMU10K1 rev 5 model 0x8023 found, IO at 0xdc00-0xdc1f, IRQ 9
IT seems like the aound card is being configured properly, I don't see the error message you are talking about here, maybe it is because it is so late right now, and I am almost falling asleep. But can you post the exact error you are getting.
Just to try something, why don't you open your modules.conf and comment out the section on emu10....
Then reboot, see if the error still shows. Then, check to see if sound still works.
Get rid of the modules that show up in /etc/modules and are not compiled as module but in the kernel.
Get rid of services that give you a errorcode (like alsa and firewall) in /etc/rc1.d to /etc/rc5.d - with Suse there is some way of yasting this.
Plus if you experience trouble with performance have a look at you reisserfs configuration.
Works for me.
Here Is One of the errors I get at boot time. Its identical to the errorI get If I try to run 'rcroute start''. I am thinking it may be related nto the cause of the problem I have which I described in This topic

Error while excuting:
/sbin/route add default gw 208.152.2.1
SIOCADDRT: Network is unreachable
Setting up routing failed
crashmeister and MasterC, I am about to try your tips. Meanwhile, would you be kind enough to take a very breif look at the link above and tell me if it may be related to the "Network unreachable" error. Note that as far as an internet connection goes, I am connected through ethernet to a HUB. In fact I am typing this very reply from this machine.
I will post my results when I try out the steps you guys advised me to do
MasterC I'm a bit confused. In the /etc/modules.conf file it says something like this
Quote:
#*****************************************************************************
# If you want to use the kernel sound drivers instead of ALSA (SuSE's default
# sound solution) please put comment signs in front of the following
# entries and remove any previous ALSA configuration from YaST2 or alsaconf
# from the end of this file. Then choose one of the sample configurations
# below. Uncomment all lines starting with 'alias', 'options', pre- or post-
# install' within one configuration and modify the parameters according to
# your needs (e.g. the resources chosen for this device in /etc/isapnp.conf).
#*****************************************************************************
alias char-major-14 off
alias sound off
alias midi off
Also, I scrolled down till I founf the emu10 business, and it looks something like this:
Quote:
# ALSA Card examples:
#
# Creative SB16 PnP (ALSA will do isapnp itself per default):
#
# alias snd-card-0 snd-card-sb16
# options snd-card-sb16 snd_index=0
#
# Creative SB Live! (ALSA will find it with the kernel's PCI support):
#
# alias snd-card-0 snd-card-emu10k1
# options snd-card-emu10k1 snd_index=0
