kernel sources


hei guys i have a strange problem: if i install kern sources by rpm or yum it says that it is already installed. but in /usr/src there inst anything...can i install sources by targz?

Yeah, of course... hand installing your own kernel is one of the safest things to do that usually doesn't mangle a package manager. Also, check that you're getting the right rpm and not just the kernel-source-headers package that might be the holdup with yum.

hi there

u can always extract from the .tar.gz , tar.bz2 kernel sources file
that u get from kernel.org
