Kernel compilation help????

Hey everyone! I'm new here, but definitely know my way around pretty much computer anything. Although, I am still learning the nuances of linux. That being said, here's my problem:

I am in the process of updating my kernel. I've just finished the 'make bzImage' step and my problem is that I don't know where the compiled kernel is stored or what it's called. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Oh yeah, i'm using Red Hat 9

So, the filename is going to be 'bzImage'? I couldn't find it. Does that mean that there were errors in the compilation?

bzImage should be in your_kernel_dir/arch/i386. Copy it to /boot, and make sure that your bootloader is configured to point to it.

Hmmm...it wasn't there. Does that mean it didn't compile correctly?

What are some reasons that might cause it to not compile correctly? Maybe I can figure it out somehow.
