Hello. I installed DiVX and Xvid codecs (linux builds, of course) from RPM's. The problem is, Kaffine still can't show them. It shows that's it's Xvid (or DiVX) format, it shows the resolution, but there is still a blank screen where the video should be. Also, I thik it shows the aforementioned information regardless of whether the codec is installed or not because I uninstalled it, and it still showed. Anyway, what should I do to get the video going?
EDIT (one more note): Kaffine seems to look for codecs in /usr/lib/win32. That dir doesn't even exist on my system...I could create it, but what will I put there?
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, however on these forums I found that mplayer looks for codecs in the same place as kaffine. I don't think it'd solve my problems (check out my EDIT in the first post). I will however take a look at mplayer.
Originally posted by reddazz download win32 codecs from the mplayer site and install them in /usr/lib/win32 and kaffeine should be able to play most formats.
Didn't do anything good for me. Everything is still the way it was. I downloaded the package called "all" and un-tar'ed its contents into /usr/lib/win32/ (I had to log in as root to do so), but it didn't solve a thing...
I can't find a precompiled version of ffmpeg, and compiling seems really complicated...

i've noticed with recent versions of xine and mplayer, it's no longer a given that the mplayer codecs will work for xine or the codecs for xine will work with mplayer. since i use xine exclusively, i went with the codec package from that url above.
Ok, I suggest uninstalling that xine lib and xine ui and testing the ones from, xine nightly builds . Also install their codecs, but in my opinion the ones from the Mplayer site work better. Hopefully those packages will work for you. I had problems with .wmv on Fedora Core and decided to use the rpms from xine themselves and everything works fine.
The reason why I have said you have to uninstall is that sometimes distros introduce problems with software when they package it, resulting in the software not working like the developers intended.
reddazz, that worked. I fully uninstalled xine (including kaffine), downloaded the nightly build, the css descrambler, the UI, and the codecs. I ran the UI that I downloaded, made sure everything worked, and that's when I realized that the default UI is pretty crappy to say the least, so I went back and reinstalled kaffine. Everything works fine, thanks for all the input.
