Just installed linux; will not boot x

I installed slackware 10.1 on a second computer. Whenever i try to load x i get a black screen. alt-ctrl backspace will get me back to the console but there is a ton of errors. Knoppix loaded up just fine and booted to a good screen size so i dont think that is the problem. I am thinking the cd might have a scratch on it and messed up the install. Any advice before I start making new install cds?

Once you reboot after the install and log in as root did you run xorgconfig. See slack like others doesn't set x up for you.Maybe you know that though.Once you run through xorgconfig and it writes the file do startx. Now you will need your monitor info as well your video info.
