java/azureus problems

Hi all, I am hoping someone here can help me, I have tried everything else and its driving me nuts. Im trying to get azureus running under Ubuntu, but it just wont work. I have done exactly the same install under Mandrake so I know how to do it, but it just wont seem to start up.

I have installed java correctly

mike@columbo:/opt/azureus$ java -version
java version "1.5.0_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_02-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_02-b09, mixed mode, sharing)
mike@columbo:/opt/azureus$

and set up the proper paths to it in my profile and in the azureus file (im trying to run the GTK version of it btw)

when I actually try to run azureus from the command line it starts with java ok (i.e. there are no errors saying that it could not find java files etc. etc.) but it freezes like below:

mike@columbo:/opt/azureus$ ./azureus
Starting Azureus...
Loading Azureus:
/usr/java/jre1.5.0_02/bin/java -Xms16m -Xmx128m -cp "/opt/azureus//Azureus2.jar:/opt/azureus//swt.jar:/opt/azureus//swt-mozilla.jar:/opt/azureus//swt-pi.jar" -Djava.library.path="/opt/azureus/" -Dazureus.install.path="/opt/azureus/" org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.Main ''

It stays like this for a good few minutes (nothing has happened yet,not even a splash screen), then it says :

StartSocket: passing startup args to already-running Azureus java process.

Then finally after about 6 minutes the following debug comes up:

DEBUG::Fri Mar 25 10:52:56 EST 2005
java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Native Method)
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.doConnect(Unknown Source)
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(Unknown Source)
at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)
at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)
at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)
at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)
at java.net.Socket.<init>(Unknown Source)
at java.net.Socket.<init>(Unknown Source)
at org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.StartSocket.<init>(StartSocket.java:44)
at org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.Main.<init>(Main.java:77)
at org.gudy.azureus2.ui.swt.Main.main(Main.java:100)

Azureus TERMINATED.

I don't think this problem is azureus related, it more seems like a connection problem or something. Although I could be completely wrong, thats why Im posting here

So if someone has any ideas please please please share, im slowly losing the will to live

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
