jackd and funky channel problem?

Hello all-

I've got a system running FC4, with the Planet CCRMA realtime kernel. I use it as an audio workstation (details at http://www.wavepacket.net/tomva/wl-005-law.html )

As part of that, I use JACKD for all audio. It's been great for MIDI and digital recording/playback.

However, there is a persistent problem: Jack often drops the right channel, or at least plays it back at a very low volume. It will run fine for a while (left and right audio channels playing properly), but then somehow it will drop most of the right channel. Then, for no reason that I can tell, it will pick up the right channel again and both channels sound fine. This is particularly annoying when doing digital multitracking. Recording always seems to work, but on playback I get this weird behavior.

Has anyone else run into this? Is it a config or software problem? CPU is pretty consistently low, and I don't see any errors in stderr when I run qjackctl.
